Luis Planas, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, has presented , April 7, the Royal Decree that will propose measures that ensure the workforce on farms.”We are fighting against a global problem that other community countries such as France, Italy or Germany are suffering as a result of the closure of borders and the reduction of mobility due to the confinement decreed in the face of the crisis caused by the covid-19″, he assured. Planas who stressed that the objective is to have the 75,000-80,000 seasonal workers demanded by the agricultural sector from this date to June 30, a period in which that labor is required for work to collect or thin stone fruit, but also in other activities related to fruits, red, onion or garlic.The first criterion for selecting these workers, the Minister of Agriculture has affirmed, is the proximity to the agricultural exploitation in which they will participate in these tasks. It is considered as a requirement for the employer the need to ensure, at all times, the availability of appropriate means of prevention against COVID-19.The beneficiaries of these measures may be persons who, upon the entry into force of the Royal Decree-Law, are in a situation of unemployment, those who are receiving some type of subsidy or agricultural income, except for workers affected by ERTES due to COVID-19.
